There should be a mechanism to notify the customers that there's a named storm and when it was named. I called INsire My Trip and they knew when they were notify of the named storm and which day but the Rep didn't know if it was the same for Nationwide. Luckily I wasn't affected by Matthews, otherwise I would have been more prepared to evaluate this coverage.

We would also like to apologize for the unfortunate circumstances that led up to this review. When you notified us to revise your policy to cover a different trip, we followed TravelSafe's standard procedure for transferring coverage which included advising TravelSafe that you incurred a penalty. TravelSafe, along with most of our companies, reserves the right to decline to cover the new trip if there were any penalties so they declined with no offer to refund your premium. However, you diligently pursued coverage and TravelSafe agreed to cover your trip.
Once again, our apologies for the difficulties that arose.

The plan had excellent coverage and gave us peace of mind to relax and enjoy our trip. While on the trip, I dropped my prescription sunglasses in the surf and was unable to retrieve them. Upon return, I filed a claim. After a week I received a courteous letter response explaining that eyeglasses and sunglasses are excluded, which I was able to verify by going back through the policy.

Windstar cancelled the cruise so I had to cancel the policy prior to the start of the trip. The cancellation penalty was outrageous. I was penalized 90% of the premium.
