We have had a very unlucky year as we had to cancel two trips and interrupt another after only a few days during the past twelve months. We had an HTH Worldwide Trip Protector plan for each one, and our claims for cancellation and trip interruption were handled very professionally and expeditiously in each case. We had someone we could contact during the claims process, and when we did contact them they were both very helpful and courteous. They also kept us informed. I certainly do recommend them.

Best price for better coverage than most...the only drawback is that the application form is not clear about the "Total Cost" of the trip. At various points it mentions "Total Costs" and at others "Nonrefundable Costs" and others "Pre-paid Costs." These can all be different amounts depending on the travel package, tours, etc. Be careful to insure for the correct amount or you will overpay for the insurance.

Having this insurance provided a piece of mind that I was covered in the event of some unfortunate accident or illness. Fortunately I had no need for any medical or evacuation services so I cannot comment on how great the response was, I can only trust that had the need been there I would have had excellent care.

After reviewing several plans with quite a few companies, this one seemed to cover all we needed. Most plans covered trip delay, cancellation, lost luggage. We were going south, real south, on a ship around Cape Horn. We were able to see land (sometimes), but not much more than, well land. We were especially concerned with traveling around Cape Horn...all the what if's: what if we get sick, what if we get really sick, what if we need more medical attention than available on ship, what if we need to be hospitalized. How would we get the care needed in such a desolate, beautiful area? The plan seemed to fit the bill so we wouldn't have to cover such a large bill should the "what if's" actually happen. Happy to report we didn't need to find out and could enjoy our trip without the worries of the "what if's". Thank you.

While I had no occasion when I actually needed to use the plan, just the peace of mind that I was covered should the need arise was comforting. The cost was reasonable, even though I didn't use it, and I would certainly purchase this plan again in the future if I do any more traveling. My daughter and I visited friends in Argentina and were gone about two and a half weeks so I wanted to be covered, due to the expense involved in that much travel, this policy took care of that at a very reasonable price.

Since the cost of your trip is used to calculate the amount of your Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage, you will always want to insure anything that is prepaid and nonrefundable for your trip. In other words, it is the monies you would lose if you had to unexpectedly cancel your trip on the date of departure.
As you indicated, trip cost is also used in calculating the premium so the traveler would want to be careful to not over-insure.
