We had to cancel our trip due to an injury. Fortunately, we had purchased trip cancelation insurance and had all the medical documentation required to file a claim. However, dealing with Trip Mate was a very frustrating experience. It was hard to contact them, and the claim forms - only available on line- were confusing and could not be completed on line.
We submitted all required paper work by mail, which Trip Mate received on February 9, 2017. After numerous phone calls, being put on hold for almost 20 minutes on several occasions only to be told to leave a call back number (which was not always returned), and two letters, we finally got a check on April 14, 2017. Yes, in the end, Trip Mate/ American Modern Home Insurance Company did cover the expenses incurred when we had to cancel our trip ,which we appreciated. However, it is doubtful that we would have ever purchased this insurance from Insure My Trip if we knew that we would not be dealing directly with an insurance company-Global Alert!- but instead an on-line company like Trip Mate, Inc.

Customer Advocates are representatives assigned to assist customers who experience issues after filing a claim. Requesting a Customer Advocate is as simple as calling 800-487-4722 or emailing [email protected], explaining the events which resulted in a claim, and the challenges you are facing.
The process for filing the claim and settlement was very expeditious. The representative took the time to explain what I need to submit which was minimal.

I usually purchase travel insurance due to my mother's fragile health condition. Up until this trip I did not need to process a claim. When my mother had a stroke 2 days before our trip I was worried about the hassle of trying to get reimbursed for my trip I was now unable to take. I was quite pleased with RoamRight's help for the processing of my claim and I was happy that they did not add to my stress by making it difficult for me to get approval for my claim. I will certainly obtain coverage with them again on future trips.
