We always choose Insure My Trip when we go overseas, the plans offered give us many choices, and we usually save over those offered by the carriers (cruise lines, travel agents). In addition, the plans cover without reducing benefits as the trip nears, unlike many offered by the carriers.

We never go on an overseas trip without contacting Insuremytrip.com and arranging travel insurance through them. Our last quotes were both with CSA Travel Protection. They had the best policies for the rates offered and figured they would cover what we needed. While we didn't need to use the plan, I would never travel overseas without a plan, especially since members of our travel group have older parents, and while we didn't think we had the medical risk, we would always want to be there, in case of our parents.

I am not sure that we would recommend it because we did not need use it. I do not know how fast you pay out so how could I recommend something I don't know about? I am currently waiting on another policy for a refund for a vacation that I could not take due to the Doctor not releasing me to go. He signed all of the necessary paper work for me and I think the company is just stalling. All insurance companies are alike. They want our money but do not want to pay out when we need it.

My wife and I purchased travel insurance for our two week trip to Greece. With an elderly mother and all of the crazy things going on in the world, the policy gave us peace of mind that we wouldn't lose our travel investment if something unexpected happened. Fortunately, we had an uneventful, but fabulous trip to beautiful Greece!

OK, I messed up by not confirming the dates of the trip with the dates that I THOUGHT I had purchased insurance for. (I purchased the insurance 10 months before the departure date when the trip dates were a bit uncertain.)
I got a reminder email from InsureMyTrip on the day I left for my vacation. I called InsureMyTrip to correct the dates -- they were off by a few days. However, I called when I was at the airport. It was too late. Neither InsureMyTrip nor C&F Travel were willing to adjust the dates of my trip. Which meant that I had no coverage for the departing or returning flights.
It would be most helpful if InsureMyTrip would send out a reminder a bit earlier when the insurance was purchased months in advance.
