I purchased trip insurance for our family trip to PR. The piece of mind that it brought knowing that should bad weather hamper our vacation was well worth it. I would highly recommend it if you have expensive travel plans and don't want them ruined by some unforeseen or unplanned event.

Roundtrip
Just prior to planned trip there was a tropical storm (Dorian)
projected to pass slightly north of Puerto Rico. I was glad to have the insurance since our airfare and condo were non refundable. The storm did not cause any problems with air travel or after we arrived. We had the insurance and are glad that we did have to use it.

The problem with this plan, as with others, is that one signs on a very long document, in small print, which is too detailed for one to really understand, and for which one does not have the time to really analyze. So one goes blindly and hopes for the best.....

The plan is only as good as when one must file a claim. since I didn't have to I can't really say how good it is. I was happy that I had the insurance in the event of but can't really say how good the plan would have paid out had I had to use it.

The term "staggeringly high" is a relative term that can mean different things to different people. My policy was about 5% of the cost of the Trip. When I added the maximum Accidental Death for Flight Catastrophe, I voluntarily increased it to about 10% of my trip. To me, this is a reasonable cost. Insurance is always purchased with the hope and expectation that it is never used, but with the peace of mind knowing that it is there if needed. I paid more to the policy for the million in life insurance for flight.Nov 14,2014
