Our two week Insight tour to Croatia was cancelled due to lack of guests. I was forced to cancel our Lufthansa air because there was no reason to wander around Croatia without a tour.
NY does not allow a cancel for any reason clause in the trip insurance. Insurance premium is not refundable. Most people DO NOT buy refundable air fare. Air is too much and so is the refundable fare.
Insight refunded the tour payment.
We lost our airfare. Generali did not accept our circumstances and did not refund the air fare. Was it a trip interruption? NO! Generali did nothing for us except take our money. They did not offer a voucher for the $556 premium. I can understand their reason that our problem was not covered but in this day and age things are unsettled. Also we made our purchases in good faith. It was beyond our control that the trip was cancelled. We lost a total of $2400.00.
We have used Generali many times. We never had a problem because we never needed to file a claim.

The prove on this plan is when one has to make a claim. Since I have never made a claim I cannot review or make judgement on this plan. the purchase process when well and that is all that i can attest to.
I would like to see coverage of preexisting conditions extended for a longer period after initial payment on trip is made.

Although we completed our trip in April, I have waited to complete my review because I had a claim pending. I wanted to see what the results would be. I am happy to report that my claim for reimbursement for one missed day of our trip was compensated for very fairly. My husband and I received checks last week. The reporting process was not easy and took quite a bit of time, and then more information was requested. I would suggest that travelers maintain good files and keep everything in the event of needing to file a claim. I spoke to representatives on the phone who were very helpful and pleasant. I will use insuremytrip.com for all future trips.

The plan we purchased had a $300 reimbursement available for delayed bags. We had a prolonged baggage delay and had to pay for a porter to transfer our luggage to our hotel in order to get our bags back. The claim to reimburse that was denied.

However, per the certificate language, baggage delay coverage reads as: “We will reimburse You, less any amount paid or payable from any other valid and collectible insurance or indemnity, up to the amount shown in the Confirmation of Benefits, for the cost of reasonable additional clothing and personal articles purchased by You, if Your Baggage is delayed for 12 hours or more during Your Trip.” The policy unfortunately does not cover the cost of your bags being delivered., but if you did have to purchase any additional clothing or personal items to hold you over, there may be coverage available for those expenses. If you do find that you had additional expenses that were not covered, please call our Customer Care team at (800) 487-4722 to request an Anytime Advocate so we can assist you in disputing your claim.
In my opinion, my own luggage items, fit within the category of “reasonable personal articles” purchased by me. Our fee for transportation of our luggage/clothing and personal articles was around $80 (well under the $300 limit).
