Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
I purchased coverage for both my husband and me. However, he didn't take the trip. I wrote asking for proration of my coverage but you would not refund me any portion of his plan. I was very upset and disappointed with your responses to my request and don't know if I'd use you again.

Thank you for your comments. Since you purchased the plan back on 11/16/2017, your 5/23/2018 request for a refund for your husband who decided not to travel was denied since the cancellation request was outside the 10 Day Review Period:
"All premium is non-refundable after a ten (10) day review period from the date of purchase in the event You have not incurred any claims during that time. In the event the premium paid for coverage is less than the required premium for coverage, benefits will be paid in direct proportion of the actual amount paid to the required premium due."
Since your husband was insured under this Nationwide policy from 11/17/2017 up until the day he decided to cancel, his premium was considered earned and nonrefundable.
I thought I bought trip insurance to cover any unexpected occurrences but I found out the hard way that it didn't cover squat. I've told my friends "what ever you do, don't buy AIG insurance.

We regret to hear that you were disappointed when you filed a claim with AIG Travel Guard. However, there are no travel insurance plans that would "cover any unexpected occurrences". Both Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption would reimburse you only for covered expenses that are specifically listed in the policy. Although the number one covered reason in most Comprehensive plans is the unexpected sickness, injury or death of you, a traveling companion or family member, there are other covered reasons that may vary from plan to plan. The list of covered reasons may be reviewed in all plans prior to purchase by clicking on the dollar amount of coverage under Trip Cancelation in your quote.

Although I had no issues on this trip, I always buy travel insurance due to a situation that happened to me 15 years ago. As an insurance agent it is easier for me to review policies and I felt nationwide was the best choice for the value.

Had I not continually checked on my claim (my first ever using travel insurance), I would probably still be waiting for it to be resolved. Since I was proactive and kept on top of things, my claim was finally paid. I would suggest that the communication from Travel Insured be more proactive on their end so that i would not have had to be constantly calling and emailing to get the claim finalized. In the end, all is resolved and i am very pleased with the results!

Unfortunately I had a serious bike accident and had to cancel my trip. I filed the claim and provided the necessary documents and the claim was processed within 2 weeks. Thank goodness for trip insurance!

I did not go on the trip. I have never cancelled a trip before but had emergency surgery about a month before and had to cancel. Once I was out of the hospital and began the claim filing process I found the website very easy to use. There were some items I was not clear on regarding prior doctors visits to be listed (it said "all" for 6 months, I was wondering if eye appointments and such were needed). I called customer service and had my questions answered simply and professionally. Once the release from the surgeon was submitted the claim was settled very quickly at the full non-refundable amount of the trip. I was very happy and impressed with AIG. I would recommend them and their product to anyone.
