I didn't need to use my insurance, but several years ago when I did need to make a claim it was handled wonderfully, and I was very pleased. I am always a little unsure on cancellation reasons if I am covered for step-family illness or death or other close relatives who are not siblings, children, parents.

Thank you for the feedback about your policy. All the coverages for cancellation are listed within the full details of the policy as well as the definition for 'family member.' Typically, policies will include step-siblings and step-parents within their definition. However, these policies are state specific and may vary so it is beneficial to check the plan certificate before purchasing. We always buy trip insurance and have had to make claims twice. This December has been a horrible weather month for the Midwest. Trip insurance gives that layer of protection and comfort. We really thought that we would have to cancel the trip and make a claim. Thank goodness we did not and have a fabulous trip.
