We were lucky and didn't need the insurance, but it provided a lot of piece of mind while traveling through Europe with 3 kids. We were looking for a plan that included rental car insurance and it was nice when declining insurance through the rental company to have the policy to show them. We've used insuremytrip twice, and the service has been impressive both times. We started buying trip insurance after losing over $10,000 in a cancelled vacation after emergency surgery. This was our first purchase of a plan from April, yet we were fully satisfied with their coverage and prices. Customers always want a lower price, so that explains the 4-star rating on value, but if the question had been worded as "price versus competition", then we would have given it 5 stars. I booked a trip to Germany through a tour company. I unknowingly paid for their trip insurance as part of the tour price. When I investigated their insurance company, I discovered that the coverage benefited the company more than it benefited me. So, I decided to do what I always do when I take a big trip: Go to insuremytrip.com and get me some travel insurance that benefits me. As usual I was satisfied with my purchase. Fortunately I didn't have to use it but I was happy knowing that I was covered just in case.

I purchased this because we were strongly advised to do so by the trip organizers. However it was a waste of money. If your hotels have a 24 hr cancellation, you don' need this. Check your health insurance policy, if you have a good one, you don't need this. Check your credit cad, you probably will find you don't need this also
