Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
These real value of these plans depends on whether or not it is necessary to use them. They do provide peace of mind, but since we didn't need to file a claim, we can't comment on the quality of the plan.

We purchased travel insurance because my father was in ill health and we wanted to be able to obtain refunds if we had to cancel the trip. He died before we left, so we did not need to make a claim.

Details on coverage for airline bankruptcy were not very clear regarding the time required to purchase the policy after initial trip payment. Thus when WOW airlines shut down and my trip had to be cancelled my claim was denied.

Thankfully we did not have a need to use our plan this year...but I was not asked to review the plan last year when it saved us. My husband had a heart attack on our second day and had to have open heart surgery near London. This plan worked with the hospital as the primary insurer. I was thousands of miles from home, terrified of my husbands condition and Insuremytrip assisted with the economic issues so I could deal with everything else. My husband is good and we got to take & complete our trip this year.
