While the terms of the insurance policies state that the policy is non-refundable after the review period, some companies have been willing to issue a refund as an exception request. In order to facilitate a successful refund request, the insurance underwriters require specific documentation.
Upon reviewing your policy, it appears we are still awaiting documentation to properly submit your request to the underwriter for an exception request. Please contact us at 800-487-4722 or by email at [email protected] for further assistance.
Fortunately, we didn't have to make a claim. Was it a good value? I suppose. It's the nature of insurance; to buy something that you hope you don't have to use.

I filed a claim because, after making an Airbnb reservation, the place was revealed to be infested with bedbugs. Airbnb would not refund because the host would not cooperate. They urged me to file a claim with my travel insurance.
The adjuster sent a series of absurd emails which suggested that I would only be compensated if I KEPT the reservation and CONTRACTED bed bugs. This is a public health nightmare, and especially galling because I'd upgraded coverage because of the constant shuffling of plans around COVID.

“I’m sorry to hear about these challenges surrounding your canceled trip. Our insurance plans include a list of covered reasons for cancellation. Claims are fully adjudicated based on the coverage purchased, and supporting documentation. Covered perils are outlined within the Policy of Insurance, and are reviewed with Insureds during the claims adjudication process. Aside from cancellation coverage, all other benefits are “port departure” benefits, meaning the loss must occur while on the covered trip for coverage to apply. If you have further questions about the outcome of your claim, please contact Travel Guard or the Claim Adjuster assigned to your claim. We are here to help.”
Even though we did not have to use the insurance on our trip, thank you Jesus!, it was good to know that you would be there for us should an event have happened.

Very pleased with the fact the insurance paid my claim even with Priceline not cooperating with me on documentation. Was just very displeased with the time frame and the long times between correspondence once documents were submitted. I felt like my claim was out in space for weeks.
