I purchased this plan for peace of mind to have health insurance outside of the country but found no good method for selecting a plan as many are offered and the vast majority of reviewers did not file a claim. I did not come across an objective review and rating system differentiating the plans offered. Because I did not need to file any claims, I cannot say for certain how good or bad this plan really is, therefore my 3 star rating.

I like the plan because it gives us the peace of mind before and during the trip in case of unforeseen problems come up. It would have cost less if the airline contractor system wasn't malfunctioning on the day I purchased the tickets. Overall, I'm satisfied with the cost & service and will use it again for future trips.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. The CSA Travel Protection Custom Luxe plan waives the pre-existing conditions exclusion if:
a. coverage is purchased prior to or within 24 hours of your final Trip Payment and
b. you are medically able to travel at the time the coverage is purchased; and
c. you insure 100% of your prepaid Trip costs that are subject to cancellation penalties or restrictions.

The main reason I sought travel insurance was to protect against political unrest. Political unrest is not a covered event so it was almost not worth getting travel insurance.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. For trip cancellation, war, political unrest, and civil unrest are standard exclusions on travel insurance plans. However, most policies, such as the Travel Guard Gold plan, provide trip cancellation coverage similar to this:
"a Terrorist Incident in a City listed on the Insured’s itinerary within 30 days of the Insured’s scheduled arrival."
Also, you purchased the Cancel For Any Reason benefit. If the insured cancels the covered trip for any reason not otherwise covered, the Insurer will reimburse 50% of the prepaid, forfeited, non-refundable trip cost provided the following conditions are met:
1. the insured purchases this Cancel for Any Reason Coverage within 15 days of the date the Insured’s Initial trip Payment or deposit,
2. this insurance coverage is purchased for the full cost of all non-refundable, prepaid trip costs.
3. the Insured cancels the insured Trip no less than 48 hours prior to the Departure Date.Feb 23,2015
