Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
I had two issues with this plan. (1) I originally purchased it for an August trip. The event I was flying down for got postponed, so I canceled the plan, and they told me I could get it reinstated when the event got rescheduled, by sending them an exception letter. When it got rescheduled, I sent them an exception letter and they offered to reinstate it for more than the price of the original insurance. That was nonsense, because I could buy an entirely new plan for less than that... which I ended up doing.
(2) The second time the event again got postponed. Because I had already flown down to Long Beach for the event, I claimed expenses, but they denied all of my claims. They said I would get an email explanation shortly but it has been more than a week and I have not received an explanation.

My wife and I came down with Covid-19 while on a guided hiking trip to Glacier National Park. We had to leave the trip and self-quarantine for five days before returning home. World Trips processed our claim promptly and reimbursed us for the lost trip segment plus the additional costs that we incurred in staying in self-quarantine.

The process took 3mos to resolve and was straight forward for "trip interruption”. After submitting the claim I received 2 more emails requesting the same information again or information that was not germane to "trip interruption”. Medical bills associated with the reason for the "trip interruption" were under my medical insurance. Nationwide would have been secondary IF I had claimed medical - which I did not. It took a phone call to raise a flag that I had no additional info that I hadn’t already provided for “trip interruption”. IMHO the process is too onerous to the point of hoping I would just give up. In the end, I received the EOB’s and checks for “trip interruption” that resulted from me suffering a concussion that required 10 staples in the back of my head in the ER and a 2nd ER visit a day later, after I arrived home due to worsening/related medical issues and not being able to complete the last 5 days of an 11 day tour.
