We didn't need to make a claim but it was close - friends on our river cruise tested positive for Covid and had to stay in Europe - trip insurance is a must these days

Our trip was cancelled due to the whole Covid-19 pandemic. We therefore did not need to use the insurance and requested a refund. While it is true that our policy stated that no refunds unless canceled within 15 days of purchase, and we requested the refund after 15 days, these are extraordinary circumstances, completely beyond our control and through no fault of our own. Other companies, such as ALLIANZ Insurance are offering refunds to its customers despite contract terms to the contrary.
There is nothing we, as consumers, can do except choose to do business in the future with other companies. We of course will not use insuremytrip.com or United States Fire Insurance Company for any future travel or other insurance needs.

Always hope that we won't have to use the insurance, but we did, in fact, file a Trip Interruption claim that was handled quickly and efficiently. The Customer Service staff guided me through the process and even told me how to obtain the information I needed from the airline. Will purchase again for future trips.

Purchased this plan and fell ill the day before departure and was not able to travel. Completed and submitted all claim forms including a memo describing the fact that the cruise line would not provide a written cancellation confirmation. I was able to sell my reservation to someone else at the last minute (at a huge discount) and reduce the insurer's loss.
Trip cancellation coverage purchased was $4,200.00. My loss was $3,516.12. Nationwide paid a measly $517.20 !!!
