I can not say if it was a good plan or bad. The problem with this is that I did not know what a typical level of protection would consist of. For instance, what would it cost to be Medically Evacuated to the US from Costa Rica - I have no idea, so is $1,000,000 correct or would $50,000 be good enough? If I don't know, I would tend to "Over Insure" myself which wastes money if it is not used. However, if I "Under Insure" myself I am left with a huge burden which I may not be able to financially recover from. But I believe this is what the Insurance Companies want, since most will "Over Insure".

Luckily we didn't need to use the insurance, but it was great to know we had it, especially since it was our honeymoon trip. I liked using the website since it provided clear language around what each plan covered and didn't, so it was easy to use and pick a plan.

Our family traveled to Costa Rica for two weeks and bought the insurance to be safe. We had a relative that was in poor heath and older parents and we just wanted to know if something did happen our money would not be lost. Two days prior to the trip I became ill and spent the night in the hospital and thought we might have to cancel the trip. Thank goodness all worked out and we enjoyed our trip and never need to use the insurance.

I discovered when I left for my trip that I was missing a prescription. I called to ask what the best way was to get a prescription filled while out of the country and they didn't know. Then I asked for help locating a pharmacy in the small town where we were staying. The individual I spoke with said he would e-mail me the name and address of pharmacies in the area. I never received the e-mail and ended up figuring it out on my own.
