Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
I made my initial deposit 2 years before my trip. I would like to have seen pre-existing conditions covered much later up to the last deposit made. To buy insurance 2 years in advance to cover pre-existing conditions, seemed to me, to be an unusual request. However, with no issues within the last 180 days, I felt comfortable.
However, I will never know if I had had to file a claim, if that would have been a: "He said, I said, sorry, not a covered item. Thankfully, I will never know.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. In the future, please consider calling us for assistance in purchasing a plan. We me able to find the coverage you are looking for at an affordable rate. We are available 7 days a week by calling 800-487-4722.
The large majority of travel insurance providers require customers to purchase the policy between 10-30 days after making the initial trip payment or deposit to qualify for the pre-existing conditions waiver. At the time of purchase, the current trip cost can be insured, and subsequent trip payments should be added onto the policy within 10-30 days (depending upon the policy) of making the subsequent trip payment.
The CSA Travel Protection Custom Luxe plan is a little different in that it offers the pre-existing conditions waiver if the plan is purchased prior to or within 24 hours of your final trip payment. Final payment is the last pre-paid payment (prior to departure) of the most expensive part of the trip, unless the main air arrangements are added last. "Main air arrangements" refer to air to/from the main destination vs. tickets for a side trip during the vacation.
I went to Haiti on a medical mission trip. I needed insurance that provided emergency evacuation at a reasonable cost. InsureAssist had a good variety of choices and price ranges so I was able to find a plan that fit my needs.

Didn't file a claim (thankfully), so I can't comment on that part. We did, however, receive several reminder emails that were very helpful. Overall, very happy with the service.
Thanks!
