The purchasing process was easy and the plan was reasonably priced. Claims is where the insurer decides if the cost was worthwhile and since I did not have to make a claim, I can only hope the company would have done as it claimed! For an expensive trip, with NONREFUNDABLE charges, it seems wise to have insurance.

Having the coverage gave me "peace of mind" during my 14 day trip to Alaska. I knew if I had to leave for most reasons, American Express would have helped me. Luckily, I did not have to file a claim.

This M.H. Ross plan seemed to provide the most coverage for our trip vs. other companies' plans, which is why we purchased it. When I was comparing plans I not only talked to the reps at InsureMyTrip.com, but I also called M.H. Ross. I have to say that the rep there didn't seem to be that familiar with the elements of the plan(s) I was inquiring about and weren't that interested in being helpful, it felt. Thankfully, we did not have a claim, so I cannot comment on what it'd be like to actually use it.
I do wish that one of these days some travel insurance company would include pets getting sick or passing away as one of the covered reasons for cancelling a trip. Pets are family members, too, and if they have a crisis one might have to cancel or postpone a trip just as if a human family member had a crisis. As it stands now, the only way to get even partial coverage to protect against pet crises is to purchase the "cancel for any reason" option. I surely hope that either M.H. Ross or some other company starts including pets in the list of legitimate reasons someone might have to cancel their trip.

I like the coverage. A few years ago, you covered a hotel stay when our flight was delayed - causing us to miss our connection. However, on this trip, my suitcase was lost at the disembarkation terminal. Holland America didn't find it for a week. (Turns out it got put back on the ship.) I thought I was going to have to file a claim. I thought I'd be in good shape because I had a list of things in my suitcase. But the form asks for brand, purchase place and price. Who has that information? I knew my favorite jeans were in the bag; but had no idea when or where I bought them, how much I paid or even what brand they were.
I'm sure glad they found the bag, because it sounds like I'd have had a hard time making a claim.

Thank you for your feedback and review. Regarding baggage claims, we recommend taking a picture or two of your bags (open of course) and their contents and emailing those photos to yourself before you travel just in case you need to file a claim. As you can imagine, it can be difficult to recall every item in your luggage.
It was comforting to know that we had coverage for pre-existing medical conditions, as well as cancellation coverage, when we had spent so much for this trip. The policy seemed expensive, but it was worth it knowing we would not loose the large amount of money we had invested in the trip, had we had to cancel. Also, as we saw an ambulance meet the cruise ship at one port, we felt at ease that we had coverage that would get us good medical care, or help us get home should that have been needed.
