Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
I found the process of investigating, selecting and understanding travel insurance very difficult. I am not certain I was adequately covered, and had I needed to file a claim, I felt like I might need an attorney to get the paper work correct.
Needs to be more user friendly and in plain english.

Thank you for your comments. As you indicated, there is no doubt that it can be a difficult and confusing process when trying to select the best policy for your trip.
The International Medical Group iTravelInsured SE plan, as do all of our policies, include the full insurance certificate which explains all of the terms, conditions, and exclusions for that specific policy. In addition, any of the items that appear in blue print within your quote provides a hyperlink to more detailed information. Your International Medical plan also offers you a 10 day refund period:
"TEN-DAY LOOK: If You are not satisfied for any reason, You may cancel insurance under this Policy by giving the Company or the agent written notice within the first to occur of the following: (a) ten (10) days from the Effective Date of Your Insurance; or (b) Your Scheduled Departure Date. If You do this, the Company will refund Your premium paid provided no Insured has filed a claim under this Policy."
We also understand that this information may be confusing, so we also invite you to take advantage of our online chat representative who is available to stay with you through the entire quote and purchase policy and answer your questions. Our licensed insurance experts are always happy to explain any part of the insurance policy. We are available to assist you by phone at 800-487-4722, or by chat, Monday - Friday, 7am-12am EST and Saturday - Sunday, 9am-9pm EST.
While I understand that the coverage options, if needed, would be quite costly, it still seems like the price for the plan was a little expensive. Maybe that's just my ignorance of what goes into the price calculations, though.

Upon receiving your review, we assigned your claim to an "Anytime Advocate" who contacted your claims representative at Generali on the denial of coverage. An email with the denial was sent to you on April 12, 2018.
According to page 9 of your "Description of Coverage" (form G-110CS), your Travel Delay Coverage states that "If you are delayed on your Trip for 6 hours or more, we will reimburse you, up to the amount shown in the Schedule for reasonable additional expenses incurred by you for lodging Accommodations, meals, telephone calls, local transportation, and additional vehicle parking charges and additional pet kennel fees incurred due to the delay. We will not pay benefits for expenses incurred after travel becomes possible."
"Travel Delay must be caused by or result from:
a. delay of a Common Carrier; or
b. loss or theft of your passport(s), travel documents or money; or
c. Quarantine; or
d. hijacking; or
e. natural disaster or adverse weather; or
f. being directly involved in a documented traffic accident while you are en route to departure; or
g. unannounced strike; or
h. a civil disorder; or
i. Sickness or Injury of you or a Traveling Companion; or
j. death of a Traveling Companion."
Although your reasons for delaying your trip are understandable, those reasons are still not listed as "covered reasons" for reimbursement under Travel Delay, so your claim was correctly denied.
If you can provide other documentation confirming that your delay was actually due to a covered reason in the policy, we would be glad to re-visit the claim on your behalf.
We appreciate your taking the time to submit your review which will be
published as you submitted.
We are sorry to hear that your claim had taken longer than anticipated. We are happy to see that you allowed an InsureMyTrip.com Customer Advocate to assist you with your claim, which has now been resolved and paid!
We appreciate your business and hope to assist you in the future when protecting your trips. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
I purchased this plan for a significant trip that was planned well in advance. Unfortunately, major family health issues required me to cancel the trip about a month before the departure date. I promptly filed a claim, and spent hours pulling together the extensive paperwork that was requested (proof of reservations, proof of cancellations, documentation about the medical issues, etc.). TravelSafe/TripMate's response seemed to be to stall, delay, request additional paperwork, and (seemingly) hope that I would give up and go away. After submitting paperwork (by mail or online), it generally took TripMate about 1 week to acknowledge receipt in their online system, even if I called to confirm that they had already received the paperwork. Then there would be a delay of several weeks, before I would receive a request for additional documentation, which often duplicated documents I had already sent (or were slightly different versions of prior documentation). I always promptly responded to the requests and sent the requested documentation so that I would not delay the process. My claim was finally approved about 3.5 months after I initially started the claim. However, the reason my claim seemed to finally gain traction was that my travel companion (same trip/insurance/reason for cancellation) contacted the InsureMyTrip advocates after receiving no response or updates about her claim after several months; the advocate quickly got her claim resolved and paid. After notifying TripMate that my companion's claim had already been paid, my claim was finally approved and paid about 2 weeks later. Overall, this process seemed far more complicated and slow than necessary; I do not plan to purchase travel insurance through this company again.

We are sorry to hear that the TravelSafe / TripMate claims process was so difficult. Although the processing did take an unusually long time, TravelSafe / TripMate was fair in settling your claim and providing payment as you confirmed.
It was unfortunate that you were unable to take advantage of the services of an Anytime Advocate much earlier in the process. If you should ever have to file a claim in the future, please be sure to contact us to request assistance if you do not hear from the claims department within 30 days of submitting your paperwork, or if you believe that your claim was unfairly denied.
InsuremyTrip is available weekdays from 7:00 AM to midnight ET and weekends from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM ET.
We insured our December 2017 trip to Antarctica with a JH Travel policy. Due to poor weather, we never made it to our Antarctica destination. When we returned to the states, we filed our claim with Seven Corners (the JH policy had been transferred / sold from JH to Seven Corners). This turned out to be a terrible experience. The customer service was atrocious. The company did everything possible to deflect paying legitimate claims. After countless emails, phone calls and letters, itsl now taken close to four months to receive payment on our full claim. I will never use JH nor Seven Corners for Travel Insurance again! Horrible experience!
