It seems as though whenever I do have to make a claim an item or incident is not covered by my policy. My phone was pickpocketed in Russia and of course as always, this "item" was not covered.
I take the insurance because I have an elderly parent who. I'm wondering, if in the event I would have to cancel a trip because of an illness, what are the chances that there would be some "reason" that my insurance would not cover this?

Even though I didn't have a claim on this insurance, it was comfortable to know that if anything went wrong, I had the coverage for it.
