This was the third time I have bought travel insurance. My chief aim is to protect against catastrophic loss, so I always choose a high medical/fatal repatriation limit. This policy was less expensive and served my main concern.
My experience has led me to believe that minor medical claims are just as much trouble to file as any; i.e., troublesome documentation requirements and long delays. Fortunately, I had no claim on this trip to Turkey.

A year ago I was supposed to go to Turkey and 8 days before departure I broke my wrist. I had to cancel the tour, and I hadn't bought insurance, so I lost the entire cost of the trip, about $2K.
