Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
Obviously I did not really test the coverage since I did not file a claim, but the process was easy to obtain the coverage and the coverage seemed very competitive for what I needed. I would use Generali Global Assistance again.

Fortunately I didn’t have to file a claim. My trip went along just as I planned. However, when a person reaches my age, nothing can be taken for granted. It’s best to have backup, and that is what trip insurance is for. I will do the same thing next time.

It was good to have peace of mind. Our cruise started with a delay to remove an I'll passenger from the ship by ambulance. Later, in Belfast, our ship was delayed again when a passenger died. These things do happen on vacations. I feel deeply for those passengers and their families and hope that they had insurance.

The industry standard is for travel insurance providers to offer the pre-existing condition waiver if you purchase their policy within 10 to 21 days (depending on plan) of your initial trip payment. There are some exceptions such as the Nationwide Mutual Choice or Luxury Cruise plans which go by final payment:
"The Pre-Existing Conditions exclusion is waived if the Insured (a) enrolls in this Policy within Final Trip payment; (b) purchases this Policy for the full cost of his or her Trip; and (c) is medically able to travel at the time the premium is paid."
Unfortunately you purchased this Choice Cruise plan on 01/29/2019 which was the day after you made your final payment, so you did not qualify for the Pre-Existing Conditions Waiver.
