Thank you for your feedback on the policy. In general, premium will not increase the closer you get to the departure date. However, the best time to purchase travel insurance is right after you put money down towards your trip to qualify for time sensitive benefits which include: pre-existing condition waiver, financial default, Cancel For Any Reason and Cancel For Work Reasons. Most plans require that you purchase a policy within 10 - 30 days after making the initial trip payment, and insure all prepaid non refundable trip costs to receive these time sensitive benefits.Mar 18,2015

It is very hard to rate the Global Alert Preferred plan since we did not file a claim. It is only in going through the claim process that one can truly know the value and satisfaction with any plan.

Insurance is one of those necessary evils. We didn't need to file a claim with Global Alert, which is good, but it makes you feel like the $1800 was wasted. Of course, it wasn't, because IF we had had a problem, we were covered which is what insurance is for, but I don't know how good the coverage or service actually would have been since we didn't need to file any kind of claim.

The peace of mind was worth the price! I didn't have to use the coverage but some people did cancel their trip a week before we left. They paid around $1500 for the coverage for the two of them with another carrier. Yikes, that's a lot of money! Glad I found InsureAssist TravCan

This policy cost half of what the tour wanted to charge me. It would have covered emergency hospitalization. Since I signed on for the tour so long in advance, it gave me peace of mind if I had a medical problem that prevented me from traveling.
