I did not go on the trip. I have never cancelled a trip before but had emergency surgery about a month before and had to cancel. Once I was out of the hospital and began the claim filing process I found the website very easy to use. There were some items I was not clear on regarding prior doctors visits to be listed (it said "all" for 6 months, I was wondering if eye appointments and such were needed). I called customer service and had my questions answered simply and professionally. Once the release from the surgeon was submitted the claim was settled very quickly at the full non-refundable amount of the trip. I was very happy and impressed with AIG. I would recommend them and their product to anyone.

Fortunately, we have not had to file a claim on our previous 3 trips. The cost of this coverage seems to be so high, but was more reasonable than some. We will continue to purchase coverage, but wish there were lesser expensive options.

My wife and I experienced a major disruption to our trip when the air carrier, Iberia, cancelled our outbound flight and was unable to re-book us for 3 days. We filed a claim with Generali and they handled the claim promptly and fairly.

I really appreciated the e-mail from InsureMyTrip right before I left with all the details of the insurance including phone numbers and a smart phone app. I felt very secure during my trip. There were two medical evacuations during the week on our cruise ship, so you never know when you will need this. Fortunately, I didn't have to make a claim.

I thought it was kind of on the expensive side for what was a basic plan to cover travel 2 western European countries. I didn't really shop around but think I'll do a bit more research next time. No complaints as didn't need to use it but seemed high compared with what I've paid previously.

C&F Travel Insured InternationalWorldwide Trip Protector Lite
I felt that the representatives on the phone were not helpful at all. I had to call several times and finally sent a complaint via email to customer support before I got my claim approved. I felt they hassled me unnecessarily on what was clearly a viable claim and they kept requesting more and more info from our doctors. I'm lucky my doctors were accommodating to their requests. I felt the rep started with "I don't believe this claim" and worked backwards to keep us from being approved; hoping we would give up. I won't use this company again even though we travel often.
