Just like the AXA Assistance USA Gold plan, the Platinum plan provides additional Travel Delay benefits along with coverage if your golf or ski trip is disrupted due to Inclement Weather. Another added benefit is coverage for Sports Equipment Rental coverage.

Purchasing travel insurance is a confusing proposition for a senior who does not travel often. I first reviewed a publication of consumer products and services and chose from the publications recommended list of providers. The customer service representatives were helpful in our phone conversations, and the online enrollment procedure was easy.

The companies have good reputations and it is foolish to not insure something that could help in the event of a loss. Our cost is high now because we are in our mid 70s but it is obvious that the risk is higher. It cost about 10% of the trip expenses in advance. But we were able to do about $10000 of non refundable arrangements that gave us premium rooms, the best opera seats and good spots on our Flights. I do think any loss would have been paid on such clear payments. But one never knows what is insured until it happens.

I had a claim and the representative I talked with was helpful. I had trouble with using the AXA website, so I asked for a claim form by mail. I finally got the website figured out before the claim form arrived by mail. My claim was honored in full, but I had complete documentation.
