The Silver plan is the mid-level policy offered by John Hancock and may be ideal for families traveling with children, as kids 17 and under are free as long as one parent is covered under the plan. Coverage is offered if you have to cancel or interrupt your trip for a typical covered reason which can range from an unforeseen illness, injury or death to your destination being made uninhabitable by a natural disaster. The Silver plan does offer higher limits of coverage than the Bronze plan for Baggage, Travel Delay, Medical and Emergency Medical Evacuation.

Thankfully I did not need to make use of the policy but I felt very sure that if needed I was fully covered. I have indeed recommended John Hancock to several traveling companions.

It seemed to be good coverage for a reasonable fee, but as we did not need to access the benefits, we cannot speak to how well the company would respond to a claim.

Although I didn't have to use it. It did gave me some peace of mind knowing that it was there. the purchase was simple and I would use them again on my next trip.

The best thing about insurance is NOT needing it.
Having heard the horror stories about travel problems, it was comforting to know that IF I needed medical evacuation, it would be arranged and paid for.
I thought the fact that the premium went up with age is understandable for the general population, but not necessarily for specific individuals.
