In addition to trip cancellation and delay, the Preferred plan offers coverage for one child per paid adult, accidental death and dismemberment coverage, trip interruption, medical and evacuation coverage, and 24/7 assistance.

The Insure My Trip web application was easy to use and zeroed in on a couple of policies that we could choose from. The prices were reasonable. We spoke with an agent with our questions and she was very helpful. We initiated the process when we made our first cruise deposit, and we liked the fact that we didn't have to buy insurance based on an estimate of the other expenses we would have (optional tours, airfares). We paid the additional premium after we had made our reservations and had exact dollar amounts to work with.

I paid $1148.00 for travel insurance. I missed a connection and was delayed 24 hours.
Roamright has delayed and delayed paying a paltry $267 claim for unused hotels at my destination and for the hotel and meals for the 24 hour delay. I supplied plenty of documentation, but in the latest delay they insist on seeing paid receipts for airline tickets that I am not claiming for even thou I sent copies of boarding passes showing the flights and 24 hour delay along with the airline refusal to pay due to weather.

This review is hard to write. The plan was very reasonably priced. I chose to use this as opposed to the cruise lines protection plan for mainly two reasons. Reason 1) you get cash in the event of a cancellation as opposed to a "future cruise credit". Additionally, it was cheaper. Of course, I didn't plan on using the insurance, just like I haven't in the past. Unfortunately, I had to use the cancel for any reason option. It took about 4 weeks after I submitted the claim and I got an email stating they needed an additional document. I submitted it within a few days. It took an additional 5 weeks to get the claim processed and paid. I called a couple times and the hold time for a representative was around an hour. I didn't wait. Logic tells you if they phones are busy, the representatives are busy answering the phone, not paying claims. So I didn't want to contribute to the delay. I did end up speaking to a representative when wait times were low, she was very nice, and she said the claim should be processed in a few days. I waited about 10 days and called back. Wait times were low, spoke to a different very nice female. She said she would follow up and email me the next day. I did not hear back. However the following day from when I should have heard back (so 2 days after the call) I got an automated email and the claim was processed. The check was obviously mailed the same day as I got the check 2 days after the email.

In short, the value is great, customer service is nice. Long wait times on the phone and long processing times for the claim. For the value, I would consider using again if they remain the best bang for the buck compared to others. If the prices start lining up with other companies, I would likely use someone else.

I actually used this insurance. My friend and I were going to Costa Rica but she got metastatic liver cancer, stage 4, within 2 months of us leaving and could no longer walk. Arch travel insurance did refund our expenses. It took A LOT of paper work, i.e. Doctors notes, all cancelled plans and hotel reservations, multiple emails, snail mail, phone calls. I understand why they need the forms to prevent scamming, but we did jump thru multiple hoops. I would use this insurance company again..they did pay. When you use insurance, please remember to save all receipts, Doctor forms, etc because you will need them. However, all insurance travel companies do this. They were very polite on the phone and I would use them again.

I feel totally cheated. We purchased the "Cancel For Any Reason" plan because our daughter's work situation was so uncertain that there was possibility that she might not make to the trip up to the last minute. It turns out that plan has a "fine print" that a cancellation must be made 48 hours before the scheduled departure, which was never brought to my attention while I was considering purchasing it. As a result we missed the "48 hours" window and we did not get a coverage at all. If it requires two days advance notice, it is not really a "cancel for any reason" plan. Additionally this critical requirement should have been printed large and clear on up of the policy, the notice email and the insurance certificate, instead of hidden amoung the sea of words and have people miss it easily.

When I called RoamRight to report that my daughter did not get on the plane, the customer service representative apparently was not aware of this requirement either. She suggested that this was not a problem, and I would be reimbursed of the 75% of cost.

In short this was a terrible experience. I will find a way to post this to a larger audience so that others don't make the same mistake as i did.

    We are a little perplexed by the account of your call in which one of our representatives may have provided you with contradictory information regarding the 48 hour Cancel for Any Reason cancellation period. Our representatives have been trained on the policy coverages. Fortunately, we did not need to use the insurance plan. We have never had to use insurance for any of our travels ( all 7 continents) however the peace of mind is important. Expensive, but precautionary. The final leg of this trip was on a cruise ship. In two ports, there were ambulances pulled up to the ship to take off passengers before the rest of the cruise passengers were allowed to depart. Not us, but a reminder of the need for insurance for medical emergencies, if needed.

While I (thankfully) did not use this plan I would never travel without medical and air evacuation insurance. Not having used the insurance, I can't comment on the ease of filing a claim but the coverage was good and the companies rating was high and the cost was very reasonable.
