The Global Alert Preferred Plus plan offers the same types of coverage as the Preferred plan, but with higher coverage limits.
Just as trip cancellation and interruption are included in the plan, so is Cancel for Any Reason if purchased within 14 days of the initial trip payment (and all other eligibility requirements are met). That coverage allows you to cancel your trip for any reason, other than what is listed under the covered reasons, as long as it is more than 48 hours before your scheduled departure.
Unlike the Preferred plan, this plan offers optional rental car coverage which covers damage done to a vehicle that you rent during the trip. This would be good for anyone renting a car to travel to their destination or renting a car once they arrive at their destination. Double check with your rental car company, as sometimes they don’t honor outside coverage for their cars.
Unlike most comprehensive travel insurance plans, the Preferred Plus plan includes a pre-existing condition waiver as long as your plan is purchased prior to or within 24 hours of your final trip payment (available in most states). A pre-existing condition waiver will allow you emergency medical coverage while traveling, regardless of any prior medical events in your medical records.
Along with the coverages mentioned above, there is also coverage for travel delay, baggage and accidental death & dismemberment.
Comprehensive travel insurance plans offer the most benefits and optional coverages. These plans provide the best protection for the investment made in a trip.
