Thailand was under their military coup after I arrived in Bangkok on Tuesday. It was total shutdown of TV news, internet, evening
outings. For me to call the US embassy for information was necessary. They rely on the internet to communicate with us, which was useless. I realize now we were helpless to change our travel plans because our travel insurance doesn't cover these emergencies caused by a foreign government. I would have shortened my trip to Thailand and returned to South Korea. Also, a warning about check in luggage at Bangkok airport is to use the luggage wrapping service which costs 150 baht. Nothing was missing from my luggage. I haven't traveled in a couple of years. I was totally unfamiliar with the places and modes of transportation on this trip. Next time I will do my research before going. Thank you.

Didn't need to access any of the plan benefits. Mostly it just provided peace of mind IF plan benefits were needed. Since everything went well, I have no idea how the plan would have responded if I had needed assistance of benefits.
